SCRAPYARD SHIP
“What a Ride!”
“Brilliant book! Absolutely loved it!!”
“This first book was great. Could not stop
reading it”
“Wonderful story! Well written”
–This book has been re-edited!–
Lieutenant Commander Jason Reynolds has had a string of bad luck lately — evident by the uncomfortable house arrest bracelet strapped to his right ankle. Worse yet, he’s relegated to his grandfather’s old house and rambling scrapyard. To complicate things, the women in his life are pulling from every direction. But It’s through a bizarre turn of events that Jason is led to a dried up subterranean aquifer hundreds of feet below ground. Here he discovers an advanced alien spacecraft, one that will propel his life in a new direction.
The adventure begins… and with it new troubles for Jason: The Craing, an unstoppable interstellar threat, is headed right for Earth. A desperate situation goes from bad to worse as the Alliance crumbles.
Fortunately, Jason’s unorthodox and impetuous nature seems to work in his favor as he moves up to the captain’s chair. First order of business is to reconnect with his SEAL team compatriots and face this enemy head-on. What’s at stake? The very survival of the human race.
This is book one of the 13-book Scrapyard Ship series. The Star Watch series (a continuation of Scrapyard) has another 6 books . . . so you have some serious reading to do!
Thanks for three good books in the Scrapyard series. Great story line with many good surprises. Looking forward to book Four! Will be great to see our good guys win it all.
Can not wait for Realms of Time when is it due
Very soon!
Hi Mark, I have read Iron hold, Broadside, Miasma burn, Scrap yard and now Star Watch. WOW, absolutely Loved them, couldn’t put them down. Is there a follow on the Star Watch, please say yes.
If so what’s it called.
Tried to read Hover, but just Can’t get into it, it’s like someone else wrote it, I have given up at 60% thru for the fourth time. Thanks Malcolm
Hi Malcolm,
Thanks for the comment. I was trying something different with HOVER. Happy you enjoy the military scifi series… lots there. Thanks for reading.
I have just finished the first of the scrapyard series, I did not expect a cliffhanger , I went and purchased the rest of series, from Amazon within 30mins, so I have plenty to go through, a thrilling read.
I am in the UK.
Thanks Martin — Let me know if you enjoy the other three in the series (so far) as much as the first.

What happened to TAPPED IN?
I just finished the sample, went to buy the e- book and it’s been removed.
I am soooo glad you asked that question! Tapped In is/was actually part on of a three part full-length novel. I took it off the market because it’s being replaced. The name of the new novel is (as of right now) called Mad Powers.
Mad Powers is almost done – being written as I write this. Those that have read Tapped In (Part 1) will be happy to see that the complete Part 1 (Tapped In) Part 2 (Remembered) and Part 3 (Mad Powers) will be available soon in the full length novel – within the next few weeks (by the end of July, 2014)…
When will Realms of time be available on Audible, love the series but work too much to read, love listening to them in my car.
Keep checking back — Realms of Time Audio Book is done and is in final check…
When is book 5 of this exciting series?? GAWD I hope there is a book 5 lol
Oh btw the cover characters are Dira, Reynolds, and Traveler 🙂
I concur
The Scrapyard books are awesome. I can’t wait for book 5. The action pace of the series makes the book very hard to put down once it is started…But I do have to admit, within the first 50 pages in Realm of Time I knew you were going to bring back Nan. I can’t wait to find out what happens next!
Please send notices of your publishings. Thanks
Oh man just finished all the books of the scrapyard series and can’t wait for the great space to come out. Such a great story line and amazing writing! I finished them all with a week and can’t wait for more!
Thanks Ryan – glad you liked scrapyard books! In the meantime – check out Mad Powers!
Hi Mark,
Wanted to high five you on the scrap yard ship series. All five books (so far) finished in record time (approx 3 weeks). Yo have a hell of a writing talent, very very well done. PS left my comments on Amazon as well. Look forward to Great Space next – Cheers Steve
Many thanks for the nice words, Steve. Check out Mad Powers too
A wonderful series well worth the time to read and enjoy over and over again. Here’s hoping the creative juices continue to flow.
John
Mark –
I very much enjoyed Mad Powers and would like to know when the next book in the series is due for sale.
Thanks,
Julie
Hi Julie
I was a good way into writing Deadly Powers when I got diverted into writing an interim book called Embrace The Wind … It’s an early 1900’s high adventure / love story – which happens to be true. Then it’s back to finishing up Deadly Powers… Let me know if your interested in Embrace The Wind as well.
Mark
Just finished the entire Scrapyard Ship series. Must say it’s been a long time since a book series has engaged me with the characters so deeply. Deeply enough that i found myself tearing up reading the final epilogue of Call to Battle. I hope beyond hope that in some way these charatcers can continue in new and wild adventures. Just about to read Star Watch and i have high hope for this book. Like most lovers of the written word i don’t so much read the books as see them as i read the words. I can see the people, smell the smoke, hear the battles, Explosions etc. Great writing deserves acknowledgement. Thank you 🙂
Thank you, Scott. I’m really happy you enjoyed the Scrapyard Ship series books. And I’m happy the characters are a part of your life, like someone you actually know — they certainly are for me.
I hope Star Watch provides you with as much entertainment value – I’m enjoying writing the adventures – which are more self-contained as you would find in a weekly TV series but of course the continuing saga of the lives of the chapters we’re fond of … Some will go away but new ones will arrive. Make sure you check out Lone Star Renegades – there too the characters seem to imbed themselves into one’s life.
When is Star Watch Book 3 scheduled for release?
Is there going to be second book of lone star renegades? I liked it, and I want to see what happens next.
I love all the books but Simpleton is my favourite. Hope Cuddy has more adventures. I like that the shops are all advanced tech instead of the usual old battered freighters. The concept of the Habitats on the ships is really clever.
I loved Jacked! Excellent story! Are you planning a sequel, as the ending is just begging for Collin to get a shot at getting the Turd back? Thanks,
Dow
Sorry, Dow, there won’t be a sequel to Jacked (Lone Star Renegades). I loved writing it and thought it would be a super great seller – unfortunately, it wasn’t. I rarely write sequels these days, so many stand alone books I want to write! take care – Mark
I was wondering if “The Simpleton Quest” is available in printed format-I only find Kindle which I do not have?
Here you go … https://www.amazon.com/Simpleton-Mark-Wayne-McGinnis/dp/0997451475/ref=bseries_primary_1_0997451475
Any plans to turn “Ship Wrecked Stranded on an alien world” into a series?
Yes – book 2 comes out in August 2018
when will book 3 of ship wrecked be released?
Hi Mark, is there going to be a Boy Gone 2? I’ve just finished it and really need more even though I’ve never been into aliens.
I’m the same as someone above who said when they read they see, etc, everything instead of seeing the words and I feel like I’m right there which is probably why I read as much as I do. Unfortunately it doesn’t happen with audible books so I can’t be doing with them as nothing is the same as reading and being involved in what you are reading.
Thanks for writing such a fantastic book even an alien novice could enjoy
Oops… My bad… In my initial post, I referred to Scrapyard Ship as “Junkyard Ship”.. Guess it’s been a while since I read those, eh?
‘Scuse me, y’all. Like I said, I.T. can ‘affect’ one a bit…
Left you an Amazon 5 star review. Looking forward to inhaling your books. Thanks again and best wishes………… ” Good my countrymen, for I am Welsh you know. ” Henry V
Hi love, is there going to be any more Boy Gone please?
Yes, Boy Gone II – tentatively called Dog Gone – by the end of the year (2019) 🙂
Cheers- Mark
Yeyy, thanks ever so much x
Hi again love. No pressure but is Dog Gone anywhere close to being released? x
Hey mark I’m trying to purchase ship wreck 2 and there are not copy’s available, any idea when I would be able to get a copy as I would really like to read what’s next.
I just saw that – it’s fixed now with the correct book – so sorry about that — mark
Mark, do all of your books end up on Audible? Always looking for your latest, great reads!
Thanks
Yes – sometimes takes a few months, but eventually, all my books end up on Audible.
Yes – sometimes takes a while, though.
Mark
Was curious if there will be a book 2 to Guardian ship?
The hodgepodge of ‘Ship’ books, like Hidden Ship, Guardian Ship, and Gun Ship, will probably not get sequels — most of my time is going toward the USS Hamilton series for now. Thanks!
Please send me list of the reading order of the different series.
I have bought different series books because they are not Numbered. Thank You
Sincerely
Francis M Riley

Yup USS Jefferson will be out in April lot’s more to come with Captain Quintos and crew…
Mark
love all the books a few questions hope you can answer
1. any change you could put a drawing of the USS Hamilton in Explore the Ships ?
2. will there be more Ship Wrecked Series?
Thanks for the books great reading
Hi Tony, Probably not, in answer to both of your questions. More books coming, though.-)
Thanks, Mark.
Will there be anymore books for the starwatch series? I just finished book 6 and noticed it there has been none added since 2017.
Nope – all done with the Star Watch and Scrapyard Ships series – Now working on the USS Hamilton – Jefferson series books. Thaks – Mark
I remember reading a book describing how Gus found the original Lily as a scrap yard ship. I have searched and searched and can’t find this book. Help!!!
Will we have a third Simpleton book? I just finished book two and I can’t find any news of it anywhere
Hi Tadgh, Unfortunately, that was just a 2-book series. You might enjoy the 3-book series, Ship Wrecked, Stranded on an Alien World… which was one of my most popular series. Thank you for reading my books. Cheers, Mark
I have read quite a few of your books now, and every one have kept me enthralled. I have to say between you and John Ringo, you are my favorite authors!!
I was wondering when the third book of the Simpleton series will come out. At the end of the second one you wrote that it was in the works. Wondering what happens in the next part of their adventure. Enjoyed the first two books.
Mark:
I enjoyed Boy Gone, and saw where the 2nd book was to be released a couple of years ago. Is Boy Gone gone? Or, is it coming back?
Thanks,
Vince
Just finished USS Jefferson and loved it! I can’t wait for book 5.
Hi Evan – sorry for the late response. Hope you found book 5. Hamilton book 6 will be out around mid-August.
I have read all of the USS Hamilton,Jefferson and Oblivion books. Can’t wait to see what Quintos is up to as he separates from the military! Love where this is going (I hope!).
Boy Gone 2 (AKA Dog Gone) please.
Hi David, I hear you… I never say never, so we will see.
I have plowed through the 5 USS Hamilton books. Thank you for great plot lines that are far from predictable. I love the humor and character complexity. Can you estimate when book 6 will be released?
Hi Angel, Hamilton Book 6 (kindle) will be out in mid-August. I appreciate the nice comment- thank you!
Really loved the Hamilton series. Is there going to be a book 6 (and more) I hope? You’ve done an outstanding job of character development in this work. I’m hooked for as long as you are!
Hi Mark,
Hamilton Book 6 (kindle) will be out in mid-August. Thank you for the nice comment!
Just finished book 5 of the Hamilton series. Please tell me you are not going to leave off with Quintos crying his eyes out and the bad guys still on the loose?
Hi John, Hamilton Book 6 (kindle) will be out in mid-August. Happy to hear you are enjoying the books!
So ,I’ve read all the scrapyard, star watch and Hamilton books so far. Really great reading, my question is are you really not gonna do a star watch 7 after ending 6 the way you did?seems as if you ended there to be able to pick back up and have a Finale. And when is the next Hamilton gonna be out ? Thanks and keep up the great writing
Hi Jay,
I try to never say never, as far as continuing Star Watch… so we will see. I am currently working on the Hamilton book (sequel). That is expected to be out in mid-August. Thank you for reading my books and for your supportive comments.
Currently reading The Fallen Ship and really enjoying it. I will definitely be checking out more of your work. I stopped by to leave just one comment, because I am one of those people for whom this is a bit of a grating, albeit common, mistake. In the scene where the heroes go out to the former SEAL’s compound and all that, you describe him putting a “clip” into the Sig Sauer. Sigs, Glocks, Springfield, all modern semi-auto pistols and rifles use magazines; Not clips. The M1 Garand used a clip.
Thank you for the information. Always happy to get my facts straight.-) Cheers, Mark
Hi mark loved the books! I was just curious I know you did mid august for the next Hamilton book but when would the audiobook version be out after that? Thanks for the great writing!
Thanks for your support, Connor. Hopefully, you got the audiobook. Cheers, Mark
I Adored The Fallen Ship and really hope there is a second (maybe even third?) book coming from this🥰
The second book is out… Fallen Ship 2! Cheers, Mark
How about a sequel to Boy Gone ??
Loved most of ur novels but Boy Gone was in my top ten S.F. novels
Richard
Richard, So much time has gone by, and, although Boy Gone did fairly well, unfortunately, it didn’t meet the fan-fav-threshold for a sequel. Cheers, Mark
You have got to get Boy Gone 2 out! I have to make sure Borkner doesn’t get to go!!!
I’m afraid I don’t have that on the docket any time soon. Thank you for your support. Cheers, Mark
Hi Mark, Absolutely enjoyed reading your Cloudwalkers Part 1 to my group for Adult Literacy class. Now we are curious when you will bring out the part 2? You have left us hanging in a manner of speaking. It’s not easy to find books that appeal to a diverse age group and the various reading level skills of people between 18-50+. Cloudwalkers dystopian backdrop, weaving in the highlander clan magic of a future world setting with strong male & female characters was riveting for my class. I was so proud of my group eagerly working through the chapters and the dictionary to learn new words.
For adults who weren’t able to learn to read due to careless teachers, or reading disabilities or just having no choice but to have start working early in their lives, it is amazing to see my adult pupils being spellbound by the magic of the world of words. Cloudwalkers allowed me to bring in environmental articles, architectural articles, religion and of course we even looked at the history of Scotland.
Thank you and we are keeping our fingers crossed for Part 2!
Hi Mimi, Thank you for the message. Unfortunately, Cloudwalkers was not a fan-favorite, although I am happy you enjoyed it. So, because of the lackluster response for that particular book… there will be no sequel. Thank you for your support. Cheers, Mark
Just finished USS Adams – No Escape. Hope to see a Book 7 in the series before long.
Hi John. Look for it sometime next year. Working on a stand-alone right now. Cheers, Mark
Glad to hear that there will be a book 7 in the USS Hamilton series, and hopefully many more.
Hi Mark, I enjoyed your Hamilton series and I’ve gone back and started reading some of your other series. I understand that you are not planning on continuing any of these non-Hamilton series, but I was wondering if any of them are complete. You tend to end books on cliff-hangers, and it would be frustrating to read through some of the backlist series and not get some sort of endings for them.
Hi Ed, I’m happy you enjoyed the Hamilton Series. That one has been highly popular and I plan to continue that series for (years?), as long as readers continue to read it. My other series – Scrapyard Ship, Star Watch, Ship Wrecked, The Simpleton, and the Fallen Ship are complete. And I have some stand-alones (Gun Ship, the Hidden Ship, etc.). Many of my books start out as stand-alones that may or may not become a series. The deciding factor is… are enough readers reading them? If not enough people get the book through the library or buy the book I can not afford to do a sequel, even if the reviews are good. I wish it were different sometimes—to be able to write longer sequels or make a sequel out of a stand-alone. The bottom line is, my decisions are based solely on what the majority of my readers want from me. So, I will have a few USS Hamilton books coming up the rest of this year and into next year… after that… we shall see. Thank you for reaching out. Cheers, Mark
Hi Mark,
Just finished USS Lincoln – Mercy Kill. Great series and love the characters and storyline. One question because maybe I missed it… What happened to Hardy’s shoulder mounted EMP weapon? He wasted those beetles with that weapon and then it disappeared when fighting the last battle against them. Just wondering because that has been eating at me for a couple of days. 🙂
Thx,
Greg
